Alexei Makarov’s areas of scientific endeavor are systems analysis, development of energy policy and forecasting the dynamics of the fuel and energy complex.
He led the preparation of the energy program of the Soviet Union (1979-81) and Russia (1993-95).
He is a graduate of Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, Professor in the Russian Academy of Sciences and the holder of a Ph.D. He has authored more than 330 scientific papers.
